Question 1- State what each of the authors is saying about art. Be specific un your response to this question Theodore Roosevelt had a lot to say about art. He thought that the work the Europeans have been doing is excellent and can’t be ignored. He thought that when people made art that wasn’t real (P.T. Barnum fake mermaid) people enjoyed they fact that they could make folly look lucrative. Theodore thought that thousands of people would pay small sums to have such work but, a person with a lot of money will buy a cubist picture. He also said that cubist painters are entitles to the serious attention to puzzle pictures that are in the newspapers every Sunday. Mr. Roosevelt thought that the Americans were great at showing the good that are coming out of the new movements. Theodore thought that even though a picture might be extreme that doesn’t entitle them to any praise.
