Abigail Julian GTS Ch. 2 HIS 135 Dr. Gardner 1.) In the first photograph, Greetings from Glacier National Park, a group of men is sitting in front of a building that may be a train station, if this is true it reflects the modern period when some Blackfeet used jobs at the park to gain knowledge of modern and/or American traditions; they may also have gained financial compensation. Photo number 11 also shows a Native American performing a job in the park. Despite holding modern jobs, or using modern technology, they retain their “traditional” dress. Photograph number 5 is my favorite, it depicts Two Guns White Calf reading a book of Western stories, to me this shows the advance of the Blackfeet contrary to the beliefs of the day. Instead of sitting there performing some traditional task of hunting or fishing, he simply sits there enjoying a good book like many American men might do. The reservation photos in my opinion represent the disparity between the happy care free resort type atmosphere of the National Park, and the desolate
