Michael Ruggiero Professor Villarreal MLG 312 April 5th, 2020 Final Paper : Magic Realism Throughout module four at the end of each story one common style was in my head at the end of each of them. That style of writing was Magic Realism, this topic was in each of the short stories. Magic Realism is defined as a literary genre or style associated especially with Latin America that incorporates fantastic or mythical elements into otherwise realistic fiction. In my opinion Magic Realism makes the stories much more interesting for the readers, also it makes each story that much more descriptive. Each story in the module shows this and we will talk about how Magic Realism is shown throughout. The first story I want to talk about is ”Culinary Lesson” by Rosario Castellanos. This story has a few Magic Realism lines used throughout the passage. I want to begin with right away on the first page, a few of the lines are very descriptive, way more than normal stories. “ Or is it the halo of disinfectants, the cushioned steps of the nurses, the hidden presence of sickness and death that does it?” (43). For starters this line is more descriptive than usual stories. The one that stood out to me was the cushioned steps. To me in my head when I read this I pictured it in
