Mitchell Cameron 1/18/08 WR 122 Serving to protect or serving to change? Imperialism is well known today as the expansion of one nation’s authority over another by the means of economic policy. The United States military force crosses the line between a force of military protection, and the use of an imperial power to help expand the American economic policy to other countries. A large amount of historical evidence indicates the United States military is in fact being used to implement their own economic policy onto another country using the military as a imperial force. United States citizens hotly debated on the Vietnam War. America felt the need for a change in economic policy, in a country that was thousands of miles away. One of the many arguments that favored for the war was that America needed to do what it can in order to stop the spread of communism in Asia. Asia has many countries with the best trade arrangements and with Vietnam becoming communist that would greatly affect it. Had the American government established a better reason to invade another country their actions may have been a little more justified. The fact that the United
