Caroline Hennessy WR150- I2 28 January 2008 Analytical Summary When studying the facets of a long deceased artist’s life and his work, one must take into account the way in which information is passed down through sources along the years . Such is true of Guido Reni’s life, as his tendencies are studied in great detail by both Malvasia and Richard Spear, yet there assumptions about Reni cannot be attributed all to fact . While Malvasia did know Reni in his life, the biography was written long after the end of their relationship . Therefore it can be assumed there exists some biased and exaggerated statements about Reni in Malvasia’s account, yet Spear’s bases much of his analysis of Reni on Malvasia’s biography .
