Assignment #3: Second Position Paper on Hamlet (or, “Now the Fun Really Begins!”) Write a second paper on Hamlet, this time from either the perspective of psychoanalytic theory or performance analysis. It should be about 1000 to 1200 words long and use MLA style for format and citations. The first paper you wrote on Hamlet , challenging as it may have been, was little more than a “baseline” for the rest of the course. The assignment merely asked you to write a paper, and, in doing so, you most likely worked from the concepts and practices that you learned in previous lit. courses. You may have examined some facet of a character’s makeup, or you focused on some kind of theme, or perhaps a combination of theme and character. Or maybe you worked out some kind of pattern, like the form of tragedy or the repetition of a specific image or symbol. And as you have read in the first chapter of Beginning Shakespeare , these approaches have been around for a while—close to the beginning of the previous century. A. C.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
