God’s covenants with the Abraham, Jacob, and the Israelites, along with those made throughout the Old Testament are the most important part of the Bible. Nothing else would have happened if he had not seen good in the few men he did see good in. Failure to keep the covenant with God would result in terrible consequences. It is not really known why God chose the people he chose to be with, I believe his intentions were greater than that of just taking care of the Israelites, the descendants of Abraham. “At a lodging place on the way, the Lord met Moses and was about to kill him.” ([NIV] Exodus 4:3) The first time I read this verse I was confused, why was God about to kill the man he chose to save the people of Israel? I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you. I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. The whole land of Canaan, Where you are now an alien, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God.” Then God said to Abraham, “As for you, you must keep my covenant, you 1
