The Covenant or covenants made between God and the Israelites shaped the future of the world. The covenant God made with Moses and the Israelites after their exodus from Egypt is certainly one of the most important events in human and Jewish history.(Exodus 24:1-18) During this exodus period God showed that he was not messing around. He was very serious and showed that he should be taken very seriously. God set laws, rules, regulations, whatever you want to call them, for the Israelites. (Exodus 20-23) He made it clear that if they kept his laws they would be given the land promised to their forefathers. In the book of Exodus it is made clear that God must be feared. Another thing God did was test the Israelites, he did it multiple times. (Exodus 15:22-26) He sends them wandering around the desert to test their faith. (Exodus 14:10- 14) God wanted to see if they could still have faith in him even through rough times. (Exodus 17:2-3)
