Week 6: Ready-Made? Nope! Several websites provide ready-made speeches that public speakers are welcome to use as their own. Aside from the dishonesty involved, why would using such speeches be a mistake? Each audience should be catered to in a speech. Giving the same speech to all audiences would be like giving the same drug to all patients. Public speaking that is ethical is a method. This process starts when we start thinking about what we want to say in our voice. We have ethical obligations to uphold any time we choose to talk to an audience, whether it is at a formal speaking event or at an impromptu speaking engagement. When using a ready-made voice, be truthful and stop plagiarism.
