Control Room: Media Perpetration of Ideals and Ideas Media coverage is integral in the public's perception of political events, especially war. The media can put a positive light, or deeply criticize, different sides of a war. The documentary “Control Room” reveals a great deal of controversy surrounding not only the Iraq War, but also of its media coverage. Focusing on Al Jazeera, the film provides critical insights to the perception held by the Middle East media and the global community. The US military official who spoke most to the media raised a lot of interesting issues, from coverage of the war, to the role of the military in the Middle East. Prior to this film, I held a skeptical view of the media coverage in Iraq. The fact that all major news organizations have an office in the US military base seems very crucial in how the war is covered. Yet, the war is covered with a severe bias from both the Al Jazeera point of view and the American news media point of view. Both are skewed,
