Vincent’s ascribed status is presented when he is born because his parents did not choose his “genetic makeup.” Your genes are what determine your value in society. Gattacais based on mechanical solidaritybecause everyone in the “Gattacan” societyshares the same beliefs. An ascribed statushas a significant impact on your achieved status.
