Foreshortening - The use of perspective to represent in art the apparent visual contraction of an object that extends back in space at an angle to the perpendicular plane of sight. Stigmata - In Christian Art, the wounds Christ received at his crucifixion that miraculously appear on the body of a saint. Naturalism - The close observation of the natural world and the depiction in art of perceptual reality. Humanism- In Renaissance, an emphasis on education and expanding knowledge(of classical antiquity), exploration of individual potential and desire to excel, and commitment to civic responsibility and moral duty.
