qrq1 - Education with insert ideas is not only useless it...

This preview shows page 1 out of 1 page.

“Education with insert ideas is not only useless; it is above all things, harmful-Corruptio optimi, pessima” (Whitehead, 1929) The existence of education based on two facts: one is the capability of human brains, and the other is that knowledge, experience and culture, etc. , are not inheritable genetically. If we compare human brains to those of other animals, we realize the brain-to-body ratio is quite high (1:40). And since the emergence of the first homo habilis, the human brain has doubled in size and cerebral cortex has increased accordingly. This makes education possible among humans. Although human bodies advance through the process of evolution and body features pass on through generations, memories cannot be accumulated or recorded genetically. That means all infants are just as innocent as the ones who were born at the beginning of human history. As Dewey states (2008), life is a self-renewing process. Education is the process of drawing on historical heritage and developing something new.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
