Sabat 2 Canada’s Arms Deal with Saudi Arabia Splits the Nation By: Anna Sabat The deal that was struck between Canada and Saudi Arabia in the winter of 2014 had caused many disputes due to the recent allegations made on Saudi Arabia for violating human rights and for the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. After years of negotiations, this deal was first signed by the Canadian Unit of U.S.A. weapons-maker General Dynamics Corporation to sell light-armoured vehicles to Saudi Arabia. It recently came to the Prime M inister’s attention to violate the terms of the agreement by cutting it short since Saudi Arabia has contravened the most fundamental of human rights. Disputes between Canada and Saudi Arabia have been on-going since February 2015, when blogger, Raif Badawi, was sentenced to 1000 lashes and 10 years in prison by the Saudi Arabian government.
