One day I was doing laundry and I found her sitting at the piano jamming out to some Adele song. I sat at a table near the piano and let her play for a while before she turned around and apologized and offered me the piano. I shook my head and laughed. I told her to keep playing and she took her hands out of her sweat pants pockets and slowly sat down on the bench. She practiced the same song over and over. It wasn’t until the second time I stumbled into the laundry room with Lesli at the piano that I found that she could sing, really sing. This petite young woman sitting out the piano is belting out Turning Tables (Hometown Glory?) by Adele in the most unique, raspy, powerful voice. This time I stopped and said…. So you can play music.
