Acknowledgements I wish to acknowledge and thank Mr. Arun Maira, Member, Planning Commission of India (and former Chairman, BCG India) discussions with whom helped me structure this paper. His review on different sections helped me tie the loose ends in there and his comments were vital in developing the lenses to measure scaling potential of frugal innovations in India. While writing the paper I also interacted with various officers in the Planning Commission, particularly Mr. Anil Kumar, Principal Adviser, during a three day workshop on writing the Approach Paper to the 12 th Five Year Plan, organized at Pusa, New Delhi. Their insights and views on challenges faced by social enterprises in India have been the foundations for my research. My acknowledgments will not be completed without mentioning Mr. Sam Pitroda, Adviser to the Prime Minister on public information, infrastructure and innovation and Miss Sukhman Randhawa, consultant in the office of the Adviser for their interim review and advice on this work. 3 | H o w s h o u l d y o u m e a s u r e C S R ?
