Aretha Franklin’s Concert-Joanne Hinde Stewart presented the 16 th Sacerdote Series guest, Aretha Franklin, as the Queen of Soul, having performed throughout the years with many great names, and having won a total of 20 Grammy awards for her music, which includes the Living Legend Grammy and the Lifetime Achievement Grammy. -The orchestra started off the concert to Frank Sinatra. There was a gospel choir comprised of three ladies and a gentleman. Aretha also later introduced her guitarist who is about to go on a tour in Europe, and who happens to be her son. It should also be noted that Monk Rowe, the director of the Jazz archive at Hamilton College, played the saxophone with the Queen of Soul’s band.-Aretha stepped in to the stage with her marvelous shiny white dress that contrasted the traditionally black attire of the gospel choir. She was easily spotted. Her first song, “higher and higher” kicked off the concert and got the crowd cheerful.-
