Lab 2 Measurement of Mass, Length, and Time Molly Pham Purpose: To become familiar with tools for basic measurements and provide context for mathematical skills learnt from previous labs. Introduction: We will be practicing using tools for basic measurements and applying previously learned mathematical skills Procedure: Area of the table: 1.6105 m^2
Volume of plastic object: 6.284e-5 m^3 Weight in Newtons: 0.7139 N Weight Density: 11360 N/m^3 Analysis: 1. Program Excel to calculate mean by entering =AVERAGE and selecting the cells containing data. To calculate standard deviation, enter =STDEV and select the cells containing the data. 2. For the measuring the lab table, the long meterstick would be more appropriate in comparison to the short meterstick as an error would likely happen when repositioning the short meterstick.
3. Area of the table using the long meterstick: 𝐴 = 1.3138 ∗ 1.2258 4. Calculating the mean and standard deviation would be the same process as when calculating standard deviation and mean for the metersticks.
