Reaction Paper - Teaching Unions “Teaching is the profession that teaches all the other professions.” (Author Unknown) It is common for teachers to undergo ridicule for their career and listen to judgment that jobs in education lack professionalism. However teachers truly have one of the most difficult jobs to complete; teachers must prepare the youth for generations to come and place them on the path to success. Professional organizations, or teacher unions, have helped teachers in multiple ways to reestablish public respect in their professional status. Despite drawbacks that professional organizations may have I believe that the benefits far outweigh the repercussions. Modern professional organizations begin recruiting teachers to join as early as years before graduation. By seeking out students who are planning on teachers, the organizations hope to teach young teachers how they can improve their status throughout their careers.
