1. Provide a conceptual framework for the nervous system. Define and describe each element in the framework. Nervous System = Central Nervous System (brain, spinal cord) and Peripheral Nervous System (sensory nerves, motor nerves) Peripheral Nervous System = Skeletal or Somatic Nervous System (controls skeletal muscles or muscles of movement) and Autonomic Nervous System (controls in internal organs and glands including heart) Autonomic Nervous System = Parasympathetic Nervous System (associated with relaxation) and Sympathetic Nervous System (associated with fight or flight response). 2. Relate anatomical areas of the brain to the conceptual framework for psychology. Be sure to specify, when necessary, whether the brain area is in the left or right hemisphere of the brain. I.
