Many well known live music venues around Victoria are at risk of closing. Residential noise
complaints and safety legislation are two of the issues, affecting many venues across the
state of Victoria and elsewhere. Protests and rally meetings have been held to find ways to
save Live Music in Victoria as the current legislation neglects those who want music to
flourish and to prevent it from being crippled by big business. Sometimes policies are
inflexible, and compromise is unachievable. It is this sense of struggle which encourages
dissenters to persist with individual ideals.
Many feel speaking out may not change the course of a decision thus politics may appear to
be an illusion where the public feel involved in shaping government legislation and society.
There are many contraposed interests and opinions in this matter. Developers, residents,
