Given the introduction, how is this story framed for the reader? Do we have a complete background so that we understand clearly the context, or is some of it left for us to “solve”? 4. Borges is well-known for employing the genre of metafiction, a type of storytelling that directly addresses the nature of fictional writing. Metafiction makes a reflective commentary on itself, exposing the “illusion” of fiction while simultaneously pondering its ability to show truth.
