2Career Development: Lifetime EmployabilityDiving deep into career development will help a person understand why they are the way they are in situations that often involve critical thinking and problem-solving skills. There have been many challenges in my life that have brought me to where I am now as a healthcare professional. Exploring my professional development and focusing on strengths and weaknesses,will help me become a better leader. Being a great leader in healthcare will help increase staff retention and increase the quality of care for patients. Throughout this paper, I will focus on my career development, which will dive deep into my strengths and weaknesses on various topics. Critical ThinkingCritical thinking plays a vital role in the healthcare environment, especially when it comes to a supervisor role. While working in healthcare decision-making and problem-solving are constant elements in the job. A day does not go by without having to make a hard decision or trying to solve a problem, that requires a longer thought process. The problem-solving is a number one focus in my supervisor role, due to the large amount of staff that report to me. There is a constant need to be in communication so that operations run smoothly. The critical thinking steps that are used, when there is a problem are clear. Identifying the problem is the first step, because it is important to see if it is truly a problem or if it is a misunderstanding. For example, adoctor reports that one of my team members scheduled a patient who called about chest pain. It would not take me long to decide whether this is a problem. The problem is that the team member scheduled a patient to come into the doctor’s office instead of reaching out to the triage nurse. The triage nurse would have asked the patient a series of questions and determined if the patient could wait to be seen at an appointment, or if the patient should go to the emergency room. After determining that this was a problem, analyzing the problem is the next step of the process. Asking myself is this problem solvable, look at different angles to figure out if I will
