Aryeh Sokolov When the 2006-2007 season ended, the Lady Knights had a 13-10 record, a 5-4 record in ECC games and a far too early exit in the quarterfinals of the division playoffs. In 2008, the Lady Knights are aiming a little higher. According to Aline-Pascale Lubin, when asked about how far she thinks her team can go this season, she responded “As far as they desire, last year’s team fell short, not from talent, but from lack of desire and bad luck.” But if the Lady Knights plan to compete this season, they will have to do it without the leadership of Karin Sauer, the senior outside hitter from Schleiden, Germany who averaged 4.80 kills per game and 3.21 digs last season, finishing 7th in the ECC in the latter category. When asked about how the team will miss the presence of Sauer, Coach Lubin replied, “Tremendously, every time you graduate a great player your team suffers. However, you hope that someone else can step up and take the leadership role.” Sauer’s departure means that fellow all-star Natalie Edwards will need to be that new leader. A
