Jacques Derrida “Go there, where you cannot go, to the impossible, it is indeed the only way of coming or going.” - Jacques Derrida This quote comes from arguably one of the most well known philosophers of contemporary times, Jacques Derrida. Jacques Derrida was born in El-Biar, Algeria (then known as French Algeria) on July 15 th , 1930 and lived up until October 8, 2004. Growing up for him was very difficult. He grew up the 3 rd of 5 children in a Jewish family and was born into an environment of discrimination. Issues of Anti-Semitism forced him out of many schools and made him decide to withdraw from at least two schools because of this issue. Additionally he would secretly skip school and when he wasn’t in school he would read the works of philosophers and writers such as Rousseau and Nietzsche.
