Monica Sanvik EEC 215 Section 1 August 30, 2013 Metaphor for a Good Teacher A metaphor is a word or a phrase that is applied to an object, idea, or in this case a teacher, to compare or show a likeness between two things. Some moms might call themselves a cop or a captain of a ship, because they are very strict with rules and like to keeps things in line. There are many good and different metaphors that can be used for teachers. It is a bit challenging to pick the best metaphor for a good teacher, but for me my metaphor for a good teacher is a gardener. The most important part of being a teacher is the development of their students. Teachers are in charge of the wellbeing, safety, knowledge, learning, development of their students. I choose a gardener for my metaphor of a good teacher, because just like plant in a garden need tender care, so do children in a classroom. Gardeners need to attend to the needs of the plants, with nutrients, water, and love. Teacher’s show their love by caring about their students development and safety, give knowledge to help them learn, and offer advice to help them grow.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
