To me, this is a prime example of the Conflict Perspective. According to the module, this would fall under the people who seek to increase their own power while oppressing others, to keep down by severe and unjust use of force and authority. Right after this statement, it says that a ruling groups influence a society’s major social institutions to maintain their power. Some of these major social institutions include government, i.e. the police. After reading this, it would only make sense to assume that the KKK had enough power to be able to influence the police in order to be kept safe during this protest. Stanley Milgram said that good people sometimes participate in heinous acts. I think this can be true because what the KKK stands for is illegal and outrageous. However, the anti-KKK protestors were growing agitated and combative while it seems as though the KKK members were relatively calm. The police are called to situations to keep the peace and because there was conflict and push back coming from the anti-KKK
