zero zero with 5 minutes left in the game, all we needed was one goal, and we would be
tournament champions. I passed the ball to the outside midfielder, and ran up the center waiting
for the cross. I had just run to the penalty kick line, when the ball came flying across the face of
the goal, I jumped up and felt the ball my connect with my head. When I opened my eyes, I saw
the ball making its way to the back of the net. I had done it, I scored the goal that made us
tournament champions. The field came alive, parents and teammates screamed and jumped, all
the built up tension was immediately erased, and was replaced by joy.
Thousands of practices, and games, and it all led up to July 21, 2010, the National
Championship. The field that day seemed different then every other game....
