The Passion of the Christ The Passion of the Christ is a religious movie that follows the last days of Christ on Earth. The movie begins with Christ praying in the garden and finishes with his resurrection after being crucified. The whole movie closely follows the biblical accounts of Christ in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. While most of the movie can be directly followed from the bible, some aspects of the movie are not present in the bible. The movie begins with Jesus praying in Gethsemane as stated in the Gospels of Matthew 26:36-46 , Mark 14:32-42 , and Luke 22:39-46 . It is stated in both the Bible and in the movie that Jesus prays to God that if there is another way to save people for it to happen, but if this is his will then let it be done. The part in the Garden where Satan shows up is in the movie, but is not in the bible. While Jesus prays for deliverance to God, Satan begins to taunt Jesus by saying "Do you really believe one man can carry this burden? . ..saving their souls is too costly." Satan then conjures up a snake to bite Jesus, but Jesus Crushes the snake’s head in an allusion to Genesis 3:15 . The scene then shifts to Matthew 26: 47-56, Mark 14: 43-52, Luke 22: 47-53, and John 18: 1-10 where Jesus is arrested by a small detachment of soldiers and led towards the city to face the Sanhedrin while his disciples flee. During this arrest a small scuffle breaks out between the soldiers and the disciples and culminates in Peter cutting off the ear of one of the soldiers. As Jesus is dragged through the city, he is struck and pushed by the soldiers escorting

him. At one point he is thrown off of a bridge, and hangs by the chains that restrain him just above the ground. At which point he sees Judas cowering beneath the bridge. They make brief eye contact and as Jesus is hoisted back up a demon appears behind Judas and chases him off. This part, while a nice touch, is not in the bible and is not relevant to the movie. Jesus is then led into the temple before the Sanhedrin as
