Vita Yegorova 11/8/07 Women’s Studies Reading Response This week’s reading is on an issue I feel is very important for our society to examine. The internet has become an unknown, dangerous world. Many parents who aren't familiar with the new technology don't see the harm the internet may bring. They think that kids will only use the internet for school, or other educational resources. However, kids these days have out smarted their parents and know exactly how to surf the web. Kids are finding their way to porn sites, chat rooms, and other unapproved sites that their parents would be angry to find out about. The fact that the internet is easily accessible causes any one of any age to do whatever they want. Being on the internet gives you anonymity. No one knows who you are. If you go on a chat room, you are able to create a make believe identity and convince others it’s you. A major problem today is the amount of predators online. It appears only harmless, considering communication is only done online. However, many people choose to meet their internet
