OUR ENVIRONMENT2Our environment has been a topic of hot debate for the last few decades. Climate change, global warming, ocean levels, and ocean acidification have been causing concern for manypeople. But how far do humans go to protect our environment? How bad is the environmentreally? This is a subject many people disagree on, both sides have valid arguments. The debate ofthe environment will never end, people will always have different opinions. Some hardly careabout the environment, they believe people must do nothing for the earth and go on living theirlives. On the other side, people believe that humans must do everything that they possibly can to"save" the planet. They will do absurd things to protect the environment. Some would not spenda penny on the environment and then some would spend trillions of dollars on it. There arecommon grounds though, most people believe that our environment is important and that humansshould take care of it to a certain extent. The environment can be improved and can be taken careof. There are things people can do to help. But trillions of dollars cannot be spent. Trying to banthe burning of fossil fuels, going all green, and costing thousands to millions of jobs is goingmuch too far to take care of our environment. The responsibility of taking care of the environment poses many ethical and debatablequestions. Most of these questions are valid and understandable questions that can be discussed. Many people would do anything to "save" the environment. They are worried about globalwarming and climate change. Some people actually believe that the world will end because ofpollution and global warming. Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimedthat the world would end in twelve years if the world did not address global warming and climatechange immediately (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as cited in USA Today, 2019, para. 1). She anddemocratic senator, Ed Markey (D-MA) created an outline for the Green New Deal which theywant to put into action as soon as possible. The Green New Deal is a plan to cut carbon
