4 Overview Agency and Employment Law Welcome to Unit 4 of AC502! This week you are going to discuss a very important concept: the agency relationship. An agency relationship exists anytime someone acts for someone else. This is more common than one would think! All of us who are employees in the workplace are agents for our employer. You are being trusted to represent their interests. As employment is one of the more important agency relationships, and you will be discussing this relationship in great detail. You are going to look at the various laws that regulate the various aspects of employment, from labor limitations to medical leave to safety and privacy. As our country has continued to grow and evolve, employment discrimination has been a very hot topic. Many individuals still encounter glass ceilings in the workplace, and this is unfair. You are going to discuss this and other discrimination topics such as sexual harassment, pregnancy, age, disability, etc.
