Assignment 1: Writing Problems I cannot start papers. Getting off the ground is by far the most difficult part of writing a paper. Between finding that first witty sentence to set everything off, that “hook” to make your reader want to keep reading, and actually having the willpower to get off Youtube or Facebook and open up MS Word, starting a paper is not as easy as people may think. The length of the assignment is no help, either. If I know a paper has to be five pages long, I am more likely to have a problem starting it, simply because I am so hung up on the fact that I need to fill five pages with my thoughts. Nooooo! Some people say that the introduction is the easiest part. Nay. It is the biggest challenge. Some people agree with me, so they will save the introduction for last. This does not work either! How can you write the beginning of your paper last ?! This so- called remedy does not make any sense to me. I figure you might as well tackle it right at the start and put it aside so you can really get into the meat of your paper. Another problem stems from my inability to focus on turning out an amazing
