Nominal Size: Designates the size for a commercial
product. It may or may not express the true size of the
part. e.g. 2 x 4
Basic size: The theoretical size. The size of the a part
determined by engineering and design requirements.
The starting point for application of tolerances.
Actual size: The measured size of the finished part.
