Grand Canyon Wide open space There is no real American Landscape Mosiac of rich regional landscapes and identities Makes US richer What is a Region? A way we break up the area into smaller units to discuss them more in depth Radio regions and Baseball Areas that share at least one thing in common Regions An area with a characteristic or characteristics that distinguish it from other areas A territory of interest to people and for which one or more distinctive traits are used as the basis for its identity Allow us to appreciate the idiosyncrasies of places o More so than trying to discuss the country as a whole o Tim Horton vs. Stuckeys
