Restraint is used in domestic farm animals to accomplish several things. It is to provide safety for the person working on the animal as well as safety for the animal itself. It can be used to administer injections, doing routine maintenance and even breeding. 2. When should restraint be used with domestic farm animals? (Give Examples) When one on the following factors are present, restraint of a farm animal may be applicable, Environmental conditions such as temperature, behavioral status such as behavior during estrus cycles, hierarchal status (pecking order), health status (injuries, to administer injections, inspect animal), territoriality (animal may act different outside of cage or pen) and humane considerations. 3.
