Jonathan Jaklitsch Anthropology 143 1/22/08 Essay 1 Basically I am the definition of a “mutt”—the ancestors on my father’s side of the family represented a large portion of Eastern Europe, including, Austria, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Belarus, while most of my ancestors on my mother’s side of the family originated from Ireland. I have lived in the United States all my life and so have my parents and my grandparents on both sides of the family. My last relative to immigrate to the United States was my great grandmother Ingrid, who did so around 1900. Supposedly she was a famous cross country skier earlier when she was younger. I do not know much about my family’s history, but there are two interesting stories that I do know that always seem to pop up at family reunions. The first story involves the origin of my surname—Jaklitsch. Supposedly, the first ancestors on my father’s side of the family originated in Austria and had the surname Jaklit.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
