Plato’s Philosopher Kings How can we create the ideal city? “Until philosophers are kings, or the kings and princes of this world have spirit and power  of philosophy, and the political greatness and wisdom meet in one, and those commoner  natures who pursue either to the exclusion of the other are compelled to stand aside,  cities will never have rest from their evils, --- no, nor the human race, as I believe, --- and  then only will this our State have a possibility of life and behold the light of day.” (141) Love of the whole of wisdom/lover of knowledge (143) Knowledge o “to know the nature of being” (146)-absolute knowledge of being, it is infallible  (cannot be wrong) Ignorance (144-145)-corresponds to non being, thinking you know something when it is  not actually being Opinion (144-148)-somewhere between absolute being and non being, can be wrong,
