In the book Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes, Johnny decided to disobey his boss and work on Sunday. Johnny should not have worked on Sunday for three reasons: He might get caught, he could simply tell John Hancock his order would be little late, and rushing could cause mistakes. The first reason Johnny should not have worked on Sunday is that he might get caught. Working on Sunday was not against the law, but it was against Mr. Lapham’s beliefs. It would be dishonest to work behind his back. If Mr. Lapham finds out that he worked on the Sabbath, Johnny might be punished.
