Arguments o A group of statements, where at least one attempts to provide reasons to accept another Conclusion o Statements being supported Premise o A supporting statement Identifying arguments o An argument has something to prove o Look for the conclusion first Often takes the form, “I will argue that…” Look for indicator words (pg 45) o Establish a connection linking premises and conclusions o Effective Rhetoric is not necessarily an argument Argument of Non-Argument? o This is a clear case of child abuse. It’s a form of reverse racism not to protect thise girls from barbarous practices that rob them for a life time of their god given right to an intact body. NOT AN ARGUMENT o “The number of abortions performed in this state is increasing, and more and moer women say that they favor greater access to abortion. Therefore, in this state and the trend among women is toward great acceptance of abortion. YES!
