Pendulum- o Repetitive motion system/oscillating system Vibrating Repeats same motion, over and over again In order to move, you must apply contact force Potential energy when pull up on arch o Equilibrium Position Bottom most point of system potential energy=0 String hanging straight down PE+KE in between left and middle, right and middle Bottom- KE=100% Far left/right, PE=100% Most velocity at bottom (KE=max) o Terms: Period Time for one full cycle- T o One side to middle to other to middle to original side o Period measured in seconds/cycle Frequency Number of cycles in a certain time f=1/period=1/ T If o f=1/ T o Then T /=1/f EX: o It takes 4 sec for 1 complete cycle. Whats T and f? T=4sec f=1/T 1/4=0.25cps(Hz) o If it makes 5 cps what are the T and f? f=5cps T=0.2sec o It takes .5 sec for 1 complete cycle, whats the T and f? T=0.5sec
