Her finance background comes into play regularly. “I need to understand the industry and economy the business operates in, in order to more effectively forecast the business’s financial statements, which are the basis of discounted cash flow analysis.” Having graduated from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax in 2007 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, Karrilyn understands well the importance of interest rates and their effect on today’s value of future cash flows. “For instance, if we are valuing a business in a different country with high interest rates and sovereign risk, we need to understand the impact this has on the valuation.
