They have a great sense of the local culture and are beOer exper4se then if one was to enter into the market blindly on their own. By understanding the reseller’s business, a manufacturer could find better ways to assist them, communication is improved. According to Patrick, in his article he states the four key points needed when building channel strategies are: internal capabilities (being honest where you need help), margin and fees (intermediaries extract fees and reduce profit margin), market connections (identifying what channel partners have the necessary relationships to help place your product), and alternative channels (develop alternative channels to continue with sales) (Patrick, October 27, 2009). Overall the best practices of channel strategies is just like in any relationship, build the relationship, build trust, having good communication and understanding the wants and needs of each partner.
