The learning theories that I identify the most with is the cognitive theory. The points from thecognitive theory that strike me the most is the influence of learning that has significance andalso “takes into account learner’s perception of themselves, others, and learning environments”(Schunk, 2020, p. 24).It is my belief that it is a combination of how information is taught along with your environmentand self-opinion that truly affect learning.I like to use myself as an example in this instance, Igrew up in an environment of homelessness as a child, which eventually led to losing mymother at the young age of 12 years old.I experienced moving schools and homes frequently, but I did have some positive learning experiences throughout my educational years, especiallyin high school. At this turning point in my life, in high school, my positive learning environments, the impact of positive teachers, which one in particular served as a role model, all madelearning seem like an attainable achievement.
