Kesler 1Student’s NameSherry KeslerCourseC200Date8/6/19Leadership TheoryIntroductionLeaders should understand their strengths and weaknesses to exercise their leadershipeffectively. Understanding weaknesses allows the leaders to work on them and improve theirabilities. Learning one’s strengths make it possible for a leader in understanding the areas he orshe can capitalize on to ensure productivity (Hannum & Craig, 2008). Hence, one can identifyand effectively implement a leadership style. The CliftonStrengths is an effective way ofmeasuring a leader’s strengths and present the best five. Using this strategy, leaders cansuccessfully boost their potential and consequently, their performance by maximizing on theirabilities for growth. In this paper, I will reflect on my results on the CliftonStrengths assessmentto evaluate my leadership and suggest possible goals for its improvement.Reflection of the ResultsThe results indicated a robust analytical theme that challenges other people to prove theiropinions strongly. In many cases, this ability has helped to sustain the valid ideas only. Manytimes, people would want to maintain their views even in the circumstances that they are notappropriate. Brushing these ideas off would lead to the emergence of a group of followers thatare not motivated to give ideas (Lexa, 2017). However, it is critical that all the opinions arepresented and each person defends the best, and arise at is a consensus on the best idea to apply. Also, in the cases of making decisions, being analytical is crucial as one can make the bestdecision at all points. For instance, if somebody thinks that specific equipment should be
Kesler 2disposed of instead of repairing, he or she should prove why improving is not the best option.Getting at the root cause of problems is achievable and hence making it possible to solve intensechallenges (Lexa, 2017). An analytical person is open to new ideas and does not attach passion topersonal opinions. The second major characteristic strength is being an achiever. Achievers feel the need torealize more accomplishments every day. Notably, they do not attach their satisfaction on theresults produced in the past but are significant on those that are planned. The characteristic givesone the motivation to work more even when they deserve to rest because, above the rest, theprimary source of fulfillment is the ability to attain the set goals (Lexa, 2017). In most cases, thesatisfaction that comes from some success is short-lived, and the desire to achieve more isrekindled as soon as new opportunities appear. Achievers never lack a pursuit to follow at eachgiven time (Lexa, 2017). I realized that when I want to achieve something new even in leavedays, I acquired the urge to work at home. Indeed, this indicates that achievers always findopportunities to fulfill their desire for achievement, even in areas where others cannot see any. Aleader with such willingness to success always sets high targets for followers hence promotingproductivity.
