The hospital only has 189 beds and is approximately 100 and 150 miles away from two major medical centers of excellence in Texas. While telehealth medicine may be the next great way to see a patient,it also has its own set of issues that need to be addressed . This puts residents of the rural community highly reliant on the resources that Canon Hospital has. If Canon Hospital does not have the appropriate supplies or resources, residents may be looking at a risky travels or improper hospital care. Another big problem is the need for upkeeping for intensive care unit patients. It works with more than 180 hospitals in 20 states and provided access to care for 1. 6 million high-acuity patients in some of the hardest-to-serve healthcare environments (Dyrda,2020).These patients need daily upkeeping, but Canon Hospital simply does not have enough space or beds to operate an efficient upkeeping service.
