Political Science 220 Class Notes August 22, 2007 focus on the people. Not only in class but also in political analysis. Countries and human constructs are secondary to the importance of humans. Religious beliefs are of minimal importance in this class. Government and its consequences for people. There are no exceptions to this rule. Equality is a precondition to justice and peace. Critical analysis of situations. Democratic Process is extremely important. It is the responsibility of an individual to challenge power. Letting powers outside the persons controls is unacceptable. We have a class society. Population of businessmen who have monetary and industrial powers. Refinement of relationship judgment ability based on reason. Approaching situations within a context with evidence and analysis to those specific ends. Public Policy. Policy is at the core of the democratic process. It is the vehicle for defining or regulating community life. Governments can legitimize their actions through polity. Finding out what is important to people and what their problems are, and offering solutions. This requires continuous interaction between the
