08/06/2009 Page 1 of 4 COMP 10052 ‐ Fundamentals of Distributed Systems Further Reading B.M. Cheetham, A.A.A. Fernandes, S.R. Pettifer There is no textbook that matches well the structure and content of this course unit. If you plan to go on studying distributed systems (and we hope you will), the following textbooks will prove useful, but they are very advanced for COMP10052: [TvS] A.S. Tanenbaum and M. V. Steen. Distributed Systems: Principles and Paradigms (2nd. ed.). Pearson Education, 2007, ISBN 0‐13‐613553‐6. [CDK] G. Coulouris, J. Dollimore and T. Kindberg. Distributed Systems: Concepts and Design (4th ed.). Addison Wesley, 2005, ISBN 0‐321‐26354‐5. Previous editions of both textbooks are, by and large, OK too, if less up to date. Books that we have used (very lightly, very sparingly) for specific topics are: [G04] J. Goerzen. Foundations of Python Network Programming. Apress, 2004, ISBN 978‐1‐59059‐371‐4. [L03] M. L. Liu. Distributed Computing: Principles and Applications. Pearson Education, 2003, ISBN 0‐321‐21817‐5.
