Nick Nixon 11/6/2007 Menace II Society (1993) Directed and written by Albert and Allen Hughes Released in the United States on May 28 , 1993 Directors: Albert and Allen Hughes were born on April 1 st , 1972 in Detroit Michigan. The majority of their films focus on the struggles of the black underclass. They are best known for their film Menace II Society. The movies they direct tend to contain scenes of brutal violence and crude language. Their most recent film, From Hell (2001), had to be edited to avoid a NC-17 rating. Overview: With a hard hitting and believable performance, Tyrin Turner (Deep Cover, Judgment) captures the struggles of 18-year-old Caine Lawson as he fights to escape life in the ghetto. The film is set in Watts, a crime ridden part of Los Angeles. Against all odds, Caine manages to complete his high school education and receive his diploma. The film takes place during the summer after he graduates. Although his diploma opened up new opportunities for him, Caine continues to deal drugs. However, his situation, at first, does not appear hopeless. He lives with his
