Caitlin’Rose ’ Com’320 ’ September’3 rd .’2013 ’ Reaction’Paper’#2:’Public’Relations’Professionals’as’Organizational’Conscience After’recently’learning’the’importance’of’communication’strategies’within’ the’ public’relations’field ,’ I’observed’ Marlene’S.’Neill’and’Minette’E.’ Drumwright±s’ input’ regarding’the’ additional’ necessity’of’an’organizational’conscience.’ Instantly,’I’ resorted’to’my’current ’ grasp’on’each’term’separately,’“organization”’and’ “conscience.”’ I’predicted’ that’this’ particular’role ’ in’the’public’re lations’field’ involved’having’ consistent’and’thorough’awareness.’T his’awareness’would’be’ applied’ to’scheduling’and’planning,’ events’of’com munication’and/or ’ crisis’and’ awareness’toward’the’organization±s’reputation. ’ With’a’profession’that’i s’as’ concerned’toward’it±s’representation’as’public’relations ’ is,’ associations’such’ as’ organization’ and’awareness’ are’ automatically’expected.’ Therefore,’ a’question’ arises:’ why’was’this’role’of’organizational’conscience’promised’to’be’ so’ complex’ near’the’en d’of’Neill’and’Drumwright±s’introductory’paragraph ?’ Further’ into’the’ reading,’ however,’ a’greater’understanding’ developed:’not’only’were’there’ multiple’ types’ of’conscience,’but,’the’element’ of’ethics’was’absolutely’crucial ’ to’consider,’as’ it’created’ depth’w ithin’the’meaning’of’this’role .’ Soon,’ I’would’realize’that’an’ advanced’ comprehension’of’ethics’would’further’emphasize’the’importance’of’the’ organizational’conscience’role’in’a’public’relations’profession.
